Cina cea de Taină se ține pe Zoom, Isus stă singur la masă cu un pahar și o farfurie goală, iar apostolii sunt în grid view — unii cu aureolă, unul cu chenar verde că vorbește, altul cu camera oprită, altul fără semnal, și Matei a ieșit din chat. Iuda nu apare deloc. E ocupat astăzi.
Tabloul meu spune un lucru simplu despre comunitate: am înlocuit-o cu video call-ul și ne prefacem că e același lucru. Cina cea de Taină a fost cel mai important moment de prezență fizică din istoria creștinismului — treisprezece oameni în aceeași cameră care mănâncă aceeași pâine și unul dintre ei trădează privindu-l pe Iisus în ochi. Pe Zoom nu poți trăda privind în ochi, dar nu poți nici iubi, nici conspira, nici rupe pâinea, nici spăla picioarele cuiva. Poți doar să fii prezent tehnic și absent în orice alt sens al cuvântului.
Iuda lipsește pentru că trădarea nu mai impune prezența fizicǎ. Se face în background, cu camera oprită, din alt tab. Iar cel mai trist detaliu nu e că Iuda trădează, ci că nimeni nu observă că lipsește — pentru că într-un grid de fețe mici cu aureolă, una în plus sau una în minus nu schimbă nimic "meetingul".

My painting says one simple thing about community: we’ve replaced it with a video call and pretend it’s the same.
The Last Supper was the most important moment of physical presence in the history of Christianity — thirteen people in the same room eating the same bread, and one of them betraying Jesus while looking him in the eye.
On Zoom you cannot betray someone by looking them in the eye, but neither can you love, conspire, break bread, nor wash anyone’s feet. You can only be present technically and absent in every other sense of the word.
Judas is missing because betrayal no longer requires physical presence. It happens in the background, with the camera off, from another tab.
And the saddest detail isn’t that Judas betrays — it’s that no one notices he’s missing, because in a grid of tiny faces with halos, one more or one fewer doesn’t change the “meeting” at all.
