Adam și Eva au îmbătrânit, sunt în azil, Abel e oale şi ulcele, Cain e în Paris, lucreazǎ la Decathlon. Primii oameni au aceleaşi frunze de viță, dar ele acoperă goliciuni pe care nimeni nu le mai dorește. Eva îi dă lui Adam un măr tăiat, el mestecǎ fructul cu ce dinți mai are, și între ei, șarpele pervers doarme încolăcit pe baston — e pensionar și el, nu mai are chef sǎ ispiteascǎ pe nimeni, cǎ s-a vǎzut ce s-a întâmplat cu omenirea.
Ca în orice cǎsnicie îndelungatǎ, mărul nu mai e fructul cunoașterii, ci al obișnuinței, gestul domestic şi repetitiv al unei femei care hrănește un bărbat pentru că asta face de când lumea.
Cred cǎ e cea mai tandră și cea mai crudă pânză a mea din acest ciclu — vǎ arăt ce rămâne după ce toate dramele vieții s-au consumat: doi oameni goi într-o cameră scorojită, un televizor care merge în gol şi confortabila linişte de a nu mai trebui sǎ vorbeşti cu celelalt.

Adam and Eve have grown old — they live in a nursing home now. Abel is long gone, and Cain works in Paris, at Decathlon.
The first humans still wear the same vine leaves, but they now cover a nakedness no one desires anymore.
Eve feeds Adam a sliced apple, and he chews the fruit with whatever teeth he has left, while between them the perverse snake sleeps coiled around a walking cane — he’s retired too, no longer in the mood to tempt anyone, having seen what became of humanity.
As in any long marriage, the apple is no longer the fruit of knowledge but of habit — the domestic, repetitive gesture of a woman feeding a man because that is what she has done since the dawn of the world.
I think it’s the most tender and the most brutal painting in this cycle — I’m showing you what remains after all of life’s dramas have burnt out: two naked people in a peeling room, a television droning into the void, and the comfortable silence of no longer needing to talk to each other.
